Palaestina ex Monumentis Veteribus Illustrata, by Adriaan Reland. Nuremberg: Petrum Conradum Monathum, 1716. Latin, and some Greek, Hebrew, and Arabic. Second edition. Three books in two volumes.
Reland's most significant work, an early geographic research of Biblical Palestine, based on various sources, including Rabbinical and Arabic literature. With 16 engraved plates (of which several are folded), including a portrait of the author, maps and plans of Palestine, table of distances, a table of latitude and longitude of various Biblical cities, Biblical genealogy, an engraved frontispiece and a number of small in–text engravings.
Adriaan Reland (Adriaan Reelant / Adriaan Reland / Hadriani Relandi, 1676–1718), was a Dutch geographer, cartographer, philologist and one of the first orientalists. Professor of oriental languages at the University of Utrecht from 1701 and lecturer on the history of the Jewish people.

2 Volumes. Vol. I: [7], 381, [1] pages + [15] engraved plates. Vol. II: [1], 384–787, [1] pages, [41] leaves + [1] engraved plate. Approx 23.5 cm. Good condition. Minor stains. Some inscriptions to endpapers. Minor tears to several leaves. Matching, half–leather, bindings, worn and slightly worn.
