Fourteen sketches and illustrations created by Otte (Otto) Wallisch. [Germany and Palestine, ca. late 1920s / early 1930s].
Collection of graphic and promotional works created by the graphic designer Otte Wallisch (1903-1977), who designed the "Doar Ivri" postal stamps (and other postal stamps), banknotes, coins, medals, posters, logos, and more.
The collection includes sketches as well as final works, most of them in ink and pencil (or mixed media) on tracing paper, on regular paper or on cardboard. Most of the items are signed (surname or initials) but some of them are not signed and originate from the artist's estate:
* Advertisement for "Palastina Ball" of JNF in Vienna. * Illustrated photo-montage work promoting a Chanukka event of JNF (1928). * Sketch for a JNF promotional booklet concerning the growth of JNF incomes in Czechoslovakia (1928). * Sketch for a "Legacy for Palestine" certificate (given to donors who bequeathed their property to JNF). * Sketch for a certificate for a donor to JNF (1931). * Sketch for a JNF promotional postcard (ca. 1930). * Sketch for a promotional JNF brochure regarding purchase of land in Shatta, in the Jezreel Valley. * Sketch for the 17th Zionist Congress emblem (1931). * Three test printings (on photo-paper) of illustrations for a promotional JNF leaf concerning purchase of lands in Palestine in the years 1920, 1930 and 1940. * Sketch for the cover of a booklet issued by JNF, "Erez Israel in Zahlen", published in Jerusalem in 1931 + copy of the booklet, with a dedication handwritten by Wallisch. * Sketch (pencil) for a JNF stamp.
Enclosed: a proof print for an advertisement for anti-constipation pills of Leschnitzer pharmacy in Breslau; humoristic illustration by Wallisch; unidentified drawing (dated 1922?) from the estate of Wallisch.
