Sowing box made of olive wood. [Jerusalem, late 19th century or early 20th century].
Olive wood; wood inlay; glass.
A large sewing box. The lid, made of inlaid wood of various shaded, bears the inscription "Jerusalem: Mount of Olives" (Hebrew) and two additional, undeciphered Hebrew inscriptions. Inside are small compartments for storing sewing tools and a velvet pin cushion. The upper tray is removable. A mirror on the inside of the lid.
14X21X31.5 cm. Good condition. Blemishes and minor fractures to wood. Blemishes to the mirror. One of the hinges holding the pin cushion is missing. The key of the box is missing.
