Manuscript, responsa and sermons "Harei Besamim", by the Gaon Rabbi Aryeh Leib HaLevi Horowitz. Stryi, 1898-1899.
The booklet of responsa, in his holy handwriting [autographic writing of the author with appendixes and corrections], arranged according to the order of the time they were written from Av 1898 until Adar 1899. [Printed according to manuscript, Third addition, Jerusalem 1958, chapters 46-61].
Rabbi Aryeh Leibush Horowitz (1846-1909), was amongst the great geonim and poskim of Galicia. In his youth, he would travel to the Admor author of Divrei Chaim of Zans. The dear grandson of the Gaon Rabbi Meshulam Yissachar Horowitz Av Beit Din of Stanislaw, author of "Bar Livai" and the son of the Gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Horowitz, author of "Toldot Yitzchak" and "Me'ah She'arim". Served as Rabbi of Zalozitz, Stryi and Stanislaw. In 1883 and 1897 he printed the first and second part of his responsa in the book "Harei Besamim". The rest of his manuscripts he arranged for printing but they were not printed. During World War II, his manuscripts disappeared in the burning of the city of Bistritz, but his disciples dug under the ruins of the house and found the manuscripts. With much sacrifice the manuscripts were smuggled into Israel and the US, where the third and fourth parts were printed in 1958, and the fifth in 1984. See enclosed material.
