"Maison Tellier", a story by Guy de Maupassant; copied by hand and illustrated by László (Ladislas) Barta (1902-1961), a Jewish-Hungarian artist active in France.
Fine and accurate calligraphic writing with forty watercolor drawings (some integrated in the text, some page-size, and two double-page spread illustrations); signed by the artist. The title page is illustrated as well.
The book leaves are not bound, but rather placed in an impressive cover, also illustrated by Barta (gouache on Bristol sheet).
[36] sheets folded in two, 38 cm. Good condition. Some stains.
