Typewritten on the Rebbe's official stationery, with his signature.
Sent to R. David Perkowitz in London, in response to his message scheduling his daughter's wedding for 18 Elul. In his letter the Rebbe blesses him with a "Mazal Tov, Mazal Tov" and that they build a Jewish home founded on Torah and mitzvot, illuminated with the light of Chassidut.
At the end of the letter the Rebbe adds a Ketivah VaChatimah Tovah for the new year.
R. David son of R. Avraham Yeshayahu Perkowitz (1898-1976), an important Jerusalem Chassid of Rebbe Shaul Yedidyah Elazar Taub of Modzitz. After his rabbi's passing, he became close with Rebbe Yechiel Yehoshua Rabinowicz of Biala, the Chelkat Yehoshua. He was known as a master of Chassidic traditions and tunes. He lived for several years in London, where he attended to R. Yehudah Leib Ashlag, the Baal HaSulam. During the Holocaust, he assisted in the rescue of Rebbe Aharon Rokeach of Belz and his brother R. Mordechai Rokeach of Bilgoray, along with the Rebbe of Modzitz and the Rebbe Rayatz. He had close ties with the Chabad rebbes; he used to pray in the Chabad Beit Midrash and synagogue in Beit Yisrael in Jerusalem, and he used to participate in Chassidic lectures and gatherings.
