Letter and List of People Supported by Kollel Holland Deutschland and Batei Machse in Jerusalem, to the philanthropists David Hershel and Yosef Boskowitz of Pest [Budapest]. Jerusalem, 1857. German.
Request for monetary assistance from the philanthropists mentioned above and their communities, for the poor residents of Jerusalem, especially for the families and widows of the Sefardi community. Rabbi Yochanan Hirsh Shlank, Azriel Zelig Housdorf and other names. Stamp of "Ahavat Zion Synagogue of Kollel Deutschland… Jerusalem".
* Attached to the letter is another leaf with a Hebrew list of the names of needy families, with the number of family members and a list of widows. Most are apparently Sefardi families.
The letter and the list of names were written on a thin bluish paper.
Letter [2] pages, 27.5 cm + leaf 26 cm. Good condition. Stains, folding marks and tears.
