Approx. 500 postcards depicting pictures and photographs of Jerusalem and sites in its surroundings. Various publishers, Palestine, Egypt, Lebanon, Germany, France, Switzerland, England, USA, and more, the first half of the 20th century (several postcards are earlier of later).
The collection contains postcards depicting views, sites and sights of the Old City of Jerusalem and the new city of Jerusalem, its surroundings and settlements near it, from the early 20th century to the establishment of the state. Among them: * approx. 150 photographed postcards, some of them by the American Colony photographers. * 12 postcards published by Ya'akov Ben-Dov (Jacob Bendow) and a postcard that was photographed by him. * A postcard with a picture of the buildings of Bezalel addressed to "Mr. Kantarovitz, Marvadiah" (Ya'akov Kantarovitz, the director of the weaving workshop "Marvadiah" of Bezalel). * Souvenir postcard from the conquering of Jerusalem by the British. * Postcards published by "Photo barak" of the photographer Arthur Bauer. * And more.
