Large and assorted collection of printed leaves with Shanah Tovah greetings – letters, appeals to donors and calendars. Jerusalem, Safed, Paris and other cities, ca. 1880-1940. Hebrew, English, French and German.
The collection includes fine printed Shanah Tovah letters, decorated with illustrations of holy sites, portraits of Baron Maurice de Hirsch and Moses Montefiore, portrait of R. Zadoc Kahn Rabbi of Paris, pictures of Jerusalem institutions, and more.
Apart from the printed leaves, the collection also includes a handwritten and hand-decorated Shanah Tovah letter, in calligraphic script, from Kollel Koidanov in Jerusalem (Elul 1908). Similar decorated leaves were produced in Jerusalem in the 1890s-1900s for institutions and individuals.
