Dix Dessins de la Vie Juive [Ten Drawings of Jewish Life], a portfolio of ten prints by Abraham Goldberg. Paris: La Triangle, [ca. 1932]. One of a limited edition of 100 numbered copies. First edition.
The portfolio contains ten prints depicting Jewish figures. The prints are mounted on thick paper plates, and each print is hand signed and numbered by Goldberg. This is copy no. 2 from an edition of 100 copies; signed and dedicated by Abraham Goldberg on the inner front cover: "To dear Steinberg, Abraham Goldberg. Paris 23 October 1932."
Abraham Goldberg (1906-1980) was a Jewish artist who immigrated to Palestine from Poland as a youth. He studied in Paris and in the United States; during the Holocaust he hid out in occupied Paris.
Rare. No copies on OCLC (which lists only copies from the second edition, printed in 1934 in 500 copies).
Prints: 23.5X21.5 cm to 27.5X21.5 cm. Plates: 56X37 cm. Cardboard portfolio cover with cloth ribbons. The prints are in good condition. Some stains, creases and small tears to the plates, not affecting the prints. The tissue guards are partly torn and stained and some are missing. Light tears and stains to portfolio cover. Ribbons mostly missing.
