Passover Haggadah, from slavery to freedom. HIL [Hativah Yehudit Lochemet] third regiment. Eindhoven, Holland, 1946.
Non-traditional Haggadah. Typewritten text with handwritten titles, stenciled, with simple illustrations. "What is different this night from all other nights, that we tell of the exodus from Egypt while the cry of the people of Israel rises from their countries of exile… that we rejoice in labor and building while our enemies harass us"; "Yizkor" in memory of the fallen Brigade soldiers: "We shall remember the souls of our brothers and friends, member of the HIL, who lay down their lives for the salvation of our people and land…", and other interesting texts. An illustration on the cover expresses the spirit of the Jewish people's national revival after the Holocaust: the HIL emblem as the head of a soldier, the map of Palestine as the soldier's body, his arm stretched out and holding a pick-axe; barbed wires and iron chains next to "Homah U-Migdal" settlements.
The third regiment of the Brigade was transferred to Belgium and the Netherlands in late July 1945. The companies were scattered throughout the Netherlands, supervising units of German prisoners who cleared mines and restored infrastructure. A few months after Passover 1946 the regiment was dismantled and its soldiers were discharged.
