Hebrew Bible in Silver Binding - "Bezalel"

Opening: $600
Unsold
Torah, Prophets and Writings, edited by Max Letteris. London, 1920. Bound in exquisite binding [created at "Bezalel"]. [Jerusalem, ca. 1920].
Repoussé silver, filigree; gemstones; sculpted ivory. Unmarked.
An ivory plaque in the shape of the Ten Commandments is inlaid on the front cover. Hammered around it are a pair of wings and a crown surrounded by delicate filigree decorations in vegetal motifs. On the spine are the inscriptions, in Hebrew, "Torah, Nevi'im u'Ktuvim" and "Yerushalem"; on the back cover is a seven-branched menorah. The quality of the work and its style are characteristic of decorated silver bindings made at the time at "Bezalel", usually according to designs created by Ze'ev Raban.
Length: 13 cm, width: 9 cm. Good overall condition. The Bible itself is in fair condition (tears and pastings). Bends and slight defects to silver binding, mostly to spine and buckle.
