Grete Wolf-Krakauer – Original Drawings –Sketches for a Children's Game

Opening: $1,000
Unsold
Grete Wolf-Krakauer, five original drawings - sketches for a children's game. Watercolor on paper (one sketch - on tracing paper). [Jerusalem, ca. 1930s].
Five small paper sheets, illustrated by Grete Wolf-Krakauer. The sheets served for preparing a didactic children's game, to study the Hebrew alphabet.
On the first four sheets appear colorful naïve illustrations. Each illustration is divided into six equal squares (the separating lines are drawn in pencil). Within each square, except for one, appears one of the alphabet letters. The fifth sheet (on tracing paper) is divided into twelve rectangles - in each one appears a word and an illustration to demonstrate the letters א'-ל'. A similar sheet for the letters מ'-ת' is missing.
The five cards were used to prepare a game of cubes aimed at teaching the Hebrew alphabet. Each card was cut into six parts which were glued to the cubes' sides. Correct arrangement of the cubes, according to the alphabet, revealed the complete illustration. See following item.
[5] sketches, 12X8 cm. Overall good condition. Tears and some damages to the sketch drawn on tracing paper.
Provenance: Collection of Dotan family, Jerusalem.
