Tractatus De Judaeis, Joseph Sessa. Torino, 1717.
Book dealing with enactments issued against Jews (regarding loans, wills, inheritances, marriage and more) in Italy of the early 18th century.
The book's author, Joseph Sessa, was a judge who dealt with Jewish matters in Piedmont. In this project he deals with many laws which were enacted against the Jews in order to discriminate them from the non-Jews, to mark them as despised objects, to prevent all compassion towards them and to force them to live in a separate quarter. Latin and Italian.
[18], 387 pages, 33.5 cm. Good condition. Ownership inscriptions and handwritten comments. Non original half leather binding.
