The author, R. Dov Berish Frumer (d. 1838), disciple of the Chozeh of Lublin and other Chassidic leaders. R. Moshe of Lelov testified that he attained the level of the Chozeh, and that he is unparalleled amongst contemporary Torah leaders. He was appointed Av Beit Din of Oshpitzin (Oświęcim) in his final years.
Extra copy of the publisher's foreword, title page and approbation bound in the middle of the selections at the end of the book.
