Ketubah recording the marriage of the groom, Mordecai Halevi, and the bride, Yocheved bat Shmuel Chai, O.B.M.. Ancona, Elul [1872].
Handwritten on parchment, in a decorative framework with leaves, flowers and fruit, characteristic of ketubot from Ancona of the period. Witnesses' signatures: Raphael Meshulam of Pesaro, Yosef Piazza.
The Hebrew words "Be'Rishon" ("On the first") and "Tish'a" ("Nine") at the top of the ketubah were erased by the scribe and rewritten, as explained at the bottom of the document (in Hebrew): "The words 'On the first' and the word 'Nine', written and erased, have been rewritten over the erasure, and all is true and reaffirmed".
36.5X52.5 cm. Good condition. Some stains. Creases and folding marks, with slight damage to text. Framed. Unexamined out of frame.
