"Dead Sea Stone" cup. Palestine, [late 19th or early 20th century].
Engraved Bitumen stone ("Dead Sea Stone"). A circle of vegetal pattern decorations to upper part; below it an engraving: "Pierre de la Mer Morte" (French: "Dead Sea Stone"). Engraved on the bottom is a verse from the book of Psalms: "For thy servants take pleasure in her stones, and favour the dust thereof" (Hebrew).
Height: approx. 8.5 cm. Diameter of rim: approx. 7 cm. Break at the rim.
