Two letters were found between the leaves of the books that were sent to Rabbi David Sperber; one a letter with a halachic query by Rabbi Matityahu Yechezkel Gutman Rabbi of BuhuֵŸi and Leova with particularly interesting content: "There is a tradition in our family from our grandfather Rabbi Liber The Great of Berdichev (he lived in the time of the Besht and was the grandson of the Rabbi of Ostropoli) not to marry a Cohen¦ the testament was not recorded¦ and the reason that was passed down was that we are descended from David and have the quality of kingship, and kingship and priesthood are not to be mixed together¦".
