A book about the Jewish community in Kaifeng, the most ancient Jewish community in China, established in the 11th century. The text of a letter (in Hebrew), sent by the author to the Jewish community in Kaifeng with questions about their identity and history, is printed at the end of the book.
The book's author, James Finn (1806-1872), was the first British consul in Jerusalem, acting widely for the Jewish community in Palestine.
