A description of Perkowitz’s journey through Crimea and Caucasia, mainly through 1839-1849, during which he collected ancient books and manuscripts from archives and Jewish communities. Includes numerous lists of tombstones’ inscriptions and 15 folding picture-plates at the end (which cannot be found in all copies).
Perkowitz (1787-1874), well versed in Karaite Theology, antique books and manuscripts collector, forged numerous tombstones in order to prove the antiquity of the Karaite settlement in Crimea.
