Ba'alei Melacha veKlei Avodatam [Artisans and their Tools], illustrations by Lili Zadek, text by I. [Israel] Dushman. An "Ayalah" publication, by Dvir, [1933].
Short poems on various artisans (carpenter, seamstress, shoemaker and others) by Israel Dushman, framed with small illustrations, are printed on the left-side pages, while the right-side pages bear large illustrations in orange and turquoise by Zadek.
The artist Lili Zadek (1893-1969) was born in Berlin, where she studied painting with the artist Kathe Kollwitz, and was a member of the Olei Zion society. In 1920 she immigrated to Palestine, where she worked as a kindergarten teacher, a schoolteacher and a social worker. Her brother was the photographer Walter Zadek.
15 pp, 24X34.5 cm. Fair-good condition. Stains (numerous stains on the cover). Vertical folding line to all leaves and creases to leaf corners. Markings in colored pencil on most leaves, and an inscription on one page ("the clichés… are missing from this leaf"). Small open tear to upper left corner of front cover. Small tears to spine.
