Mishloach Manot plate made by the Sharar art workshop, Bezalel. Jerusalem, [1914-1929].
Brass, repoussé; etched.
A circular repoussé plaque depicting two figures giving Mishloach Manot occupies the center of the plate; with the inscription "Sending portions to one another [Esther 9:19], Bezalel Jerusalem". The lip of the plate is decorated with etched vine leaves and clusters of grapes, and inscribed "The Jews had light and joy, and gladness and honor" (Esther 8:16). Soldered onto the base of the plate is a plaque with the Sharar workshop logo and the English inscription: "Made in Palestine at the art workshop Sharar Bezalel Jerusalem".
Diameter: approx. 22 cm. Good condition. Minor bends and blemishes.

Pair of hexagonal vases produced by Bezalel. Jerusalem, 5673 (1912/1913).
Brass, etched.
Two identical hexagonal tapering vases. An empty rectangle is etched on each of the six faces, with a medallion below it. Three of the medallions contain the inscriptions: "If I am not for myself, who will be for me, and if not now, when"; "If I forget you, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning"; "Let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth, if I do not remember you". The other three medallions depict a farmer plowing with an ox, a camel rider and a horse rider. A series of cartouches on the faces of the vases read: "Bezalel Arts and Crafts School, Jerusalem 5673" (Hebrew).
Height: 16.5 cm. Diameter: 6.5 cm. Good condition. Minor bends. Minor blemishes. Base of one vase partially detached.

Case with fine filigree designs; topped by a dome, surrounded by an open crown. On top of the dome, a spherical knob flanked by petals. Roller engraved with an elegant monogram, reading "MB".

Enclosed: Miniature Esther scroll (4 cm) on paper-thin parchment. Text faded.

Artist Zahara Schatz (1916-1999), laureate of the Israel Prize for painting and sculpture, was active in Israel and in and the United States. She was the daughter of Bezalel's founder Boris Schatz.
Height: approx. 40 cm. Wired. Good condition.

Louise Schatz (1916-1997), Canadian-born artist and designer, known for her abstract watercolor paintings. Immigrated to Israel in 1951 with her husband, Bezalel Schatz – son of Bezalel's founder Boris Schatz. She was active in the field of applied arts, designing Hanukkah Lamps, baskets, chairs, tables, ceramics, and more. Most of the furniture pieces she designed were composed of an iron frame with woven rope back and woven rope seat, which she made with her own hands (few of the pieces were made by her husband).
Height: 80 cm, max. width: 75 cm. Minor blemishes. Slightly faded.
Provenance: friends of the Schatz family.

Small Hanukkah lamp in the form of a fighter waving a flag. Israel, [1950s].
Brass, cast; green patina. Marked on back: "Made in Israel / Pat. no 1064".
Small Hanukkah lamp (possibly made for children). Inscription on base: "Israel". The body of the lamp is shaped as a fighter, with a gun in one hand and a large flag, with two lines and the word "Hanukkah" in between, instead of the Star of David, in the other. Eight tiny oil fonts rest on the upper edge of the flag. The flag pole finial serves as servant light.

Large tin box, painted green, presumably used as a document box. The lid bears an inscription in gilt letters: "Privateigenthum des Herrn Baron C. M. von Rothschild" ("Private property of Baron C.M. von Rothschild)."
Carl Mayer von Rothschild (1788-1855) was the fourth son of Mayer Amschel Rothschild, founder of the dynasty. Carl Mayer managed the Italian branch of the family business.

Blue cardboard charity box for hanging on the wall. The box is inscribed "Keren HaTorah", "TORA ALAP", and "If not for Torah, Heaven and Earth would not have been established" (Hebrew). The inscriptions surround the organization's emblem – the globe set in the Tablets of the Law, surrounded by other celestial bodies.
The Keren HaTorah organization was founded by Agudath Israel in 1923 to support the yeshivot and Torah institutions in Europe and Palestine. It was active until the outbreak of WWII.
Maximum height: 15.5 cm. Width: 8.5 cm. Depth: 5 cm. Good-fair condition. Minor abrasions and defects. Pieces of paper pasted on the box.
