The gloss was written in the margins of both sides of leaf 15, and relates to section 10 – a ruling on Terefot. This gloss was presumably never published.

Chanoch Heinich HaKohen Schotten, the "Chassid of Kalisch" (ca. 1760 – d. before 1798; son of R. Yosef Yozpe HaKohen Schotten of Frankfurt and descendant of the Maharsheshach R. Shmuel HaKohen Schotten of Frankfurt, author of Kos HaYeshuot). He is recorded as having been born in Frankfurt, yet he may have grown up in Hanau, which is close to Frankfurt. For over 20 years he lived in Kalisch, where he devoted himself entirely to Torah study. He was renowned as a holy man and one of the leading kabbalists in his times.
His grandson, named after him, was Rebbe Chanoch Heinich HaKohen Levin of Alexander (1798-1870).

He bequeathed the book to his son Rebbe Shalom Yosef Friedman of Melnitsa (Melnytsya-Podilska), whose stamp appears at the bottom of the title page: "Shalom Yosef son of R. Nachum Dov Friedman – Melnitsa, Galicia".
