Includes an essay relating to the Jewish movements and organizations of the times (including the Zionist movement). The writer is not identified, but appears to be a prominent student of the Malch yeshiva (during the times of R. David Tevele Dainovski), who composed this notebook of sermons and eulogies in preparation for assuming a rabbinic position.

Manuscript, kabbalistic prayers recited before Shofar blowing, by the kabbalist R. Shimshon Bachi (the first), with the Arizal's customs and kavanot for shofar blowing, handwritten by R. Yehoshua Segre Rabbi of Scandiano, Italy, with his additions and glosses. [Italy, 18th century].
Neat Italian semi-cursive and square scripts, decorated in several places by R. Yehoshua Segre with floral vignettes.
This manuscript contains an order of kabbalistic prayers and kavanot for Shofar blowing, compiled by R. Yehoshua Segre. Four of the prayers were composed by R. Shimshon Bachi. Brief kabbalistic kavanot for Shofar blowing follow the prayers.
R. Yehoshua Segre incorporated his own kabbalistic glosses in "windows" in two of the prayers. He also introduces the manuscript with several kabbalistic practices for the Shofar blower, including a special segulah for success in blowing the Shofar, which is not known from any other source.
R. Yehoshua Segre (1709-1797), Italian Torah scholar, kabbalist and extremely prolific author. Served as dayan and rabbi in Scandiano and other cities. He was a talented scribe, and produced some beautiful manuscripts, including the present one. Most of his compositions were never published.

Sod Hashem – with Sharbit HaZahav, circumcision service with laws and commentaries, by R. David Lida. Vienna, 1896. Originally bound with many blank leaves, to be used by the mohel to record circumcisions. These leaves contain a Pinkas Mohel (register of circumcisions) from Helmetz (Kráľovský Chlmec), handwritten and signed by R. Yoel Ze'ev Wolf Glatstein.
This Pinkas Mohel documents some 300 circumcisions performed by R. Glatstein in Helmetz and the surroundings over the course of forty years, between 1st Kislev 1902 and 20th Menachem Av 1943 (during WWII).

Seven leaves handwritten by the author, Rebbe Tzvi Hirsh, with his emendations and deletions in the body of the text. Most of these homilies were published after the passing of the author in his book HaYashar VehaTov (Munkacs, 1880), after being edited. In the letter, addressed to his relative R. Yaakov, R. Mordechai inquires about the wellbeing of a relative - most probably his great-great-uncle Rebbe Yitzchak of Neshchiz (d. 1868). R. Mordechai also asks R. Yaakov to assist his relative R. Yitzchak Wohl, who is in great debt.
Most of the letter is written by a scribe, with the addition of three lines at the end handwritten and signed by R. Mordechai.
Rebbe Mordechai Shapiro of Zalchov (d. Chanukah 1896 or 1897), brother of R. Yaakov Perlow, first Novominsker Rebbe. He was a close follower of Rebbe Yitzchak of Neshchiz.

Two polemic proclamations – Orthodox communities in Hungary. 1930s.
1. Printed proclamation, particularly sharp and vicious attack on Rebbe Chaim Elazar Shapiro, rabbi of Munkacs (the Minchat Elazar), by the disciples of R. Shaul Brach Rabbi of Kashoi (Košice), a leading Hungarian rabbi. Kashoi, [Shevat] 1933.
The proclamation is directed against the Munkacs Beit Din and its head Rebbe Chaim Elazar Shapiro, who had publicly opposed the Kashoi kashrut system which was under R. Shaul Brach's supervision, and had disqualified a marriage where the latter had officiated. At the end, the writers mention the Zionist son-in-law of the Minchat Elazar, questioning his suitability as the rebbe's successor.

The broadside was folded and mailed. Address, postage stamp and postmark on verso, with the stamp of the Karoly community (another stamp of the community on recto).
Large sheet (printed on one side): 63X43 cm, folded. Fair-poor condition. Tears to margins and to folds, affecting text. Old sellotape repairs.
