36 photographs from Palestine, mounted on paper leaves. Photographers: Walton Adams and Félix Bonfils. Palestine, [late 19th century].
Photographs from Nazareth and environs (including a photograph of the photographer's camp and group), Jerusalem and environs, most showing Palestinian Arabs and Bedouin.
Only two of the photographs are signed by the photographer Walton Adams (1824-1934), but judging from the handwritten descriptions appearing on the paper leaves and the character of the photographs, some of which document unusual situations, most were taken by Adams's camera. Four photographs by the photographer Bonfils, signed in the negative.
Attached is an illustration (pencil on paper) of an Arab figure, signed by the photographer Marcus Adams, the son of Walton Adams, dated 1907.
Size varies. Average size: 18.5X12 cm, mounted on 30X24.5 cm paper leaves. Some photographs detached. Good overall condition. Creases and tears to margins of paper leaves.
