"LeShana Tova Tichatev" [May You be Inscribed for a Good Year], “Shana Tova” greeting card. Entered in the office of the Librarian of Congress at Washington, 1874, New York: J. K. Buchner, [1876].
Greeting card printed in golden ink on both sides, on a purple transparency. The blessings are in Hebrew, English and German. Poem in German printed on reverse.
8X13.5 cm. Good condition. Part of inscription slightly faded.

Three “Shana Tova” greeting cards designed as banknotes. [Riga, ca. 1900-1911].
On the cards are blessings for the new year, in Yiddish, with some Russian, German and Hebrew. One of the "banknotes" also shows a portrait of Rabbi Menahem Mendel Shneorson (the "Tzemach Tzedek"), the other two show an illustration of Sarah the Matriarch. One of the greeting cards is printed on a postcard.
12.5X27-28 cm, 9X14 cm (postcard). Good-fair condition. Stains and folding marks. Professionally restored tears.

1. “Shana Tova” greeting card with "Yishlach Azarcha MeKodesh UMeZion Yis'adecha" (May he send you help from the sanctuary and give you support from Zion), with different illustrations depicting aliya to Palestine. Artist's signature: Moshe Shachar. 25X20.5 cm. Fair-good condition. Stains. Folding marks. Small tears. Markings on reverse.

The blessings are written in Hebrew and English. In the center is a blue-and-white flag with a Star of David in the middle and the inscription "Degel Yisrael / Jewish National Flag". Beneath the flag appear four lines from HaTikva (later Israel's national anthem). The frame is adorned with flowers and various decorations suggestive, in their color and shape, of the flag of the United States.
Approx. 25X25 cm. Good-fair condition. Folded. Tears to folding lines. Creases. Some stains.
