Three “Shana Tova” greeting cards designed as banknotes. [Riga, ca. 1900-1911].
On the cards are blessings for the new year, in Yiddish, with some Russian, German and Hebrew. One of the "banknotes" also shows a portrait of Rabbi Menahem Mendel Shneorson (the "Tzemach Tzedek"), the other two show an illustration of Sarah the Matriarch. One of the greeting cards is printed on a postcard.
12.5X27-28 cm, 9X14 cm (postcard). Good-fair condition. Stains and folding marks. Professionally restored tears.
