Le Plafond De L'opéra De Paris, Par Marc Chagall [Ceiling of the Paris Opera, by Marc Chagall], Jacques Lassaigne. Monte Carlo: André Sauret, 1965. French.
Book describing the stages of Chagall's work on the painting of the ceiling of the Palais Garnier in Paris. With photographs and illustrations incorporated in the text, and color illustration plates. Before the title page is an original lithography by Chagall. Also attached is a large folded print (47.5X61 cm, inserted in a paper pocket on the inner side of the back binding) in which the illustration of the opera ceiling is seen in its entirety.
33.5 cm. Good condition. First leaves and some other leaves are detached (including the original lithograph). Foxing throughout the book, particularly to last leaves and the folded print.

Portfolio with 12 original engravings by Salvador Dali, after the Song of Songs. Copy 40/250. Includes 14 double leaves (4 pp each) that contain the text of the Song of Songs in English and the color engravings (with gold dust), signed by Dali. Held in a cardboard portfolio covered with blue cloth, with black leather spine, kept inside a matching cardboard box decorated with a metal medallion made by the artist. The printing work was executed in France by Jacques David. At the leaf corners is Dali's embossed signature.

Portfolio with 10 lithographs - illustrations for the work by British essayist Thomas de Quincey, "Levana and our Ladies of Sorrow". Each lithograph is mounted on passe-partout and signed in pencil by the artist. The portfolio also includes a small booklet with de Quincey's essay. The booklet is numbered 7/12 (out of an edition totalling 212 copies), signed by the artist and the publisher.

The Book of Ecclesiastes, written and illustrated by Jewish-American artist Ben Shahn. The book was published in an edition totalling 240 copies. The present copy is from the deluxe edition of 26 copies, including 2 original lithographs signed by the artist and a portfolio with a set of the illustrations and a series of progressive states of one of the plates. The book and portfolio are held in the original cardboard case.

Eight original linocuts by Yehudah Wallersteiner for a Passover Haggadah. Signed in pencil in Hebrew and Latin letters and marked A.P.
The linocuts depict images all taken from the Passover Haggadah. Apparently, no Passover Haggadah with these illustrations was ever printed. Held in cardboard portfolio.
Yehudah Wallersteiner (1915-2004) - born in Ansbach, immigrated to Palestine with his family in 1934. The entire family settled in the house they built in Bnei Brak. The family members owned the Kishut Company for the production of metalwork objects in the Bezalel style. Wallersteiner studied woodcutting with Jacob Steinhardt and was later one of the founders of the Ein Hod artists’ village.
20X27 cm., on 32X44 cm. paper sheets. Very good condition. Dampness to portfolio.
