A single incunabula leaf from Hartmann Schedel’s book, “Weltchronik” [Nuremberg Chronicle]. Nuremberg, 1493. Latin. Uncolored.
Bearing a large woodcut illustration of the supposed ritual murder of the child Simon of Trent by Jews (whose names appear in the illustration).
On March 23, 1475, a two-and-a-half-year-old Christian child by the name of Simon disappeared from his parents’ home in Trent in northern Italy; three days later, on the eve of Good Friday (the anniversary day of Jesus Christ’s crucifixion), his body was found near the home (or in the cellar or well) of a Jew who was a resident of the city, a moneylender by the name of Samuel. After the body was found, the Bishop announced that all of Trent’s Jewish community, including a number of converted Jews, is guilty of the child’s murder. All of the city’s Jews were arrested, tortured, and some were executed, by fire or beheading. Simon was declared a saint by the pope, and his memory was commemorated annually in the month of March, until his status as a saint was cancelled in 1965. The recto of the leaf is illustrated with three additional woodcuts: a comet; Christian, King of Denmark, Sweden and Norway, and Hercules, Duke of Ferrara. Leaf ca. 23.5X35 cm. Framed: 43X53 cm. Good condition. Tears around the edges. Unexamined out of frame.

A letter handwritten by Édouard Drumont, anti-Semitic journalist and author, founder of the "Anti-Semitic League of France". No addressee. Signed and dated: Paris, May 22, 1897. French.
"What would you like me to write in the album? One date: May 22, 1897…when this album will be read in a few years, public opinion will undoubtedly change, following the work of my colleagues and myself. They will know then, too late I am afraid, that we acted out of affection for our country. We tried to protect our forefathers' faith…our forefathers' race against the Semitic [Jews] - the invaders and greedy people who tried to harm an innocent and too confident nation that accepted as brothers their merciless enemies".
Édouard Drumont (1844-1917) was famous in France as an anti-Semitic propagandist. Drumont founded the “Anti-Semitic League for France”, published the newspaper “La Libre Parole” whose slogan was “France for the French”, composed booklets and published numerous anti-Jewish books. His anti-Semitic book “Jewish France”, in which he called for the expulsion of Jews from French society, was his first best seller and contributed to his fame. [1] leaf, ca. 20 cm. Very good condition. Minor damages.

Le Bordereau, Etude des Depositions de M. Bertillon et du Capitaine Valerio au Conseil de Guerre de Rennes, Par un Ancien Eleve De L'ecole Polytechnique [the incriminating document (Bordereau), investigation of the depositions by Bertillon and Captain Valerio before a martial court in Rennes, by a former student of "Le'ecole Polytechnique"]. Paris: Hardy& Bernard, 1904. French. Plates volume.
Booklet of plates, published originally with an essay about the "Bordereau" which Dreyfus was accused of writing, (the "Bordereau", a document which included secret military information, sent to the German embassy in Paris, constituted the start of the Dreyfus affair).
