The original English edition of “Das Zauberboot,” a children’s book with remarkable color illustrations by Tom Seidmann-Freud and a variety of movable “pop-up” pictures and parts that can be turned, moved and pulled. When first published this book was considered unique not only from an artistic perspective (it was voted one of the fifty most beautiful books ever published in Germany) but also as an educational tool. With interactive games, moving parts and built-in riddles, almost every page presents an intellectual challenge for its young reader.
[6] leaves + a removable template and a sheet of red cellophane paper for playing games with the book, placed in a pocket on the inside rear cover. Good condition. Sporadic stains. A few loose leaves, partly detached, fastened with acid-free tape. Small tears, also corrected with tape. Minor scrapes, stains and bumps to the covers.

The book tells the story of four children's dreams, dreamt after a visit to the zoo. In their dreams the situation of European Jews during the Holocaust is described, and in each dream a different animal helps to save Jews and bring them to Eretz Israel.
The book opens from its upper side; printed on heavy cardboard leaves. From each opening between two cardboard sheets pop-up illustrated parts accompanying the text. M.Anabi printing press also printed the children's book "The Zoo" with identical illustrations by David Gilboa and a different text – songs for children by Levine Kipnis.
