David Ben-Gurion, a two pages letter, typewritten on official stationery, with Ben-Gurion's signature. Addressed to Mr. Meir Hartiner. Jerusalem, October 1955.
In September 1955, Meir Hartiner sent a letter to Ben-Gurion, in which he writes that he succeeded to "scientifically prove that the belief in the Christian Holy Trinity …was the official faith of Jews in the days of the Second Temple, and was cancelled and archived by the Sanhedrin…due to cultural progress and for national reasons". Hartiner disclosed his intention to write an essay about this topic and asked for financial assistance (attached is a copy of this letter handwritten by Hartiner). Meir Hartiner (1880-1972) – author, translator and editor. Made aliya to Eretz Israel in 1938. Wrote in Yiddish and Hebrew in various newspapers and edited the paper "HaOlam".
In his reply, Ben-Gurion writes: "Generally I believe in free research and in the search for truth…but when the relations between Judaism and Christianity are concerned there are not only historic and research problems but a gap of emotions which separates them, and I doubt it that time has come to close this gap", and more. [2] leaves of Ben-Gurion's letter + Envelope + copy of letter sent to Ben-Gurion handwritten by Hartiner. Good condition. Folding-marks and some staining.
