Mikneh Avram, grammar book, by the physician and linguist Rabbi Avraham Davlemish. Venice, [1523]. Daniel Bomberg printing.
Hebrew [with vowels] and Latin, page for page. Apparently, the book had been translated by David ben Klonimus who wrote the last section of the book, Section of Ta'amei Mikrah, and brought the book to print.
On the reverse side of the title page is a poem in Latin in honor of Daniel Bomberg, followed by an introduction in Latin by Daniel Bomberg. The author as well, praises Bomberg in his introduction.
Simultaneously, an edition in Hebrew only (from 1523) was printed. The order of the letters of the body of the work is almost identical. In this edition, each row is numbered.
Handsome copy in very good condition. [314] leaves. 21 cm. Wide margins, stains, handwritten inscription. Ancient binding, without clasps.

Among the very few editions of the Bible which were printed in sanctity during that period by Jews. Two columns per page [similar to Bible which Rabbi Aryeh Levin had a tradition to use for performing “Goral HaGra”].
Colophon at end of book: “Praised be the Almighty, who has accompanied me throughout the entire process… and he has merited me to complete it… and print all twenty four books as I intended…”. (Hebrew date on title page and colophon differ from civil date listed on title page).
Copy incomplete at beginning. 4-112 (missing title page and two leaves); 144, 144-166; 94, [4] leaves. 15 cm. Fair condition, majority of leaves in good condition. Stains, mildew traces on several leaves. Last leaves worn and detached. Ancient leather binding, damaged.
