Manuscript, of a halachic responsum on the laws of "kiddushei sechok", in Rabbi Shlomo Ganzfried's handwriting, written in response to the query of his son-in-law Rabbi Shabtai Diamond Av Beit Din of Petsy-Neidorf, autographic writing with erasures and additions. [Uzhgorod, before 1865].
Rabbi Shlomo Ganzfried (1804-1886), served 36 years (from 1850) as Rosh Av Beit Din of Uzhgorod, his native city. Wrote dozens of important works but he is especially renowned for his famous book “Kitzur Shulchan Aruch”. See previous item.
His son-in-law was Rabbi Shabtai Diamond (1815-1865), Av Beit Din of Petsy-Neidorf (New Petsy), disciple of the “Chatam Sofer” and Maharam Ash. A leading Torah scholar and an important dayan of his generation. He had halachic exchanges with the great Torah figures of his times and their responses emphasize the great esteem in which he was held by the Chatam Sofer, the Divrei Chaim, Imrei Esh etc. At the end of his father-in-law's book “Lechem V'Simla”, he printed his own large booklet on the laws of the topic "chikeku v'levasof kav'u".
Four pages, 37 cm. Good condition, few stains and wear. Elaborate leather binding.
The responsum was written before 1865, since his son-in-law is mentioned in the responsum followed by the acronym Nun and Yud (Nero Ya'ir, said after the name of a living person) and he died in 1865 when his father-in-law was still alive.

Manuscript, novellae on Torah, halacha and aggada. Rabbi Yehuda Rosenfeld. [Pressburg, 1830]. The first pages have many notations and signatures: "I have made this notebook to write all the novellae and Torah from my teacher Rabbi Moshe Sofer Rabbi of Pressburg, G-d should raise his glory… and he should live long days and years amen"; "Yehuda Rosenfeld, Karlisberg" [Klausenberg]. [See: HaChatam Sofer V'Talmidav, p. 166]. Records of yahrtzheits of his father and mother.
At the beginning of the manuscript is research done on the topic of yayin nesech, according to the order of the leaves in Tractate Avoda Zara: "First, I will discuss the source and root of yayin nesech with all its branches and G-d should save me from mistakes" [Written by Rabbi Yehuda Rosenfeld who dealt with trading wine and on the last leaves of the manuscript he listed accounts and names of customers]. Afterward, his novellae on Tractate Bava Metzia appear. [These novellae were not printed].
Most of the manuscript has novellae and homiletics on the Torah from his teacher the Chatam Sofer. The content of the novellae were printed in the various books of the Chatam Sofer [Torat Moshe, Chatam Sofer Al HaTorah, Derashot Chatam Sofer etc.], but here some of them appear in the personal version of the writer as he heard them from his teacher the Chatam Sofer or as he copied them from the writings of the Chatam Sofer's disciples [for additional details see attached material].
Some 140 written pages. 25 cm. Good condition, stains. New binding.

Miniature manuscript, handsome writing in Rashi lettering and decorated title pages. [Boguslav?, 1888-1889].
Contains three compositions:
*Story of the known Mr. Anonymous, after whom the nations in the countries where we live wander", an ancient composition on the “History of Jesus the Christian” (called also “Ma'ase Talui” etc.) usually common in manuscripts and various versions. This has the addition of "The copier's introduction" which states that they copied and translated (from Yiddish) this edition from an old and blurred manuscript.
* Riddle on the (Hebrew) Alphabet, a small pamphlet…" 22 riddles on all the letters of the alphabet.
* “Hashkamat HaPoker”, a parodic satire based on the first Siman of the Shulchan Aruch and its commentaries, "It counts all the customs and foolishnesses that the heretics do… to show how all their deeds… are against the Torah and the Shulchan Aruch…". A similar composition was printed in the book “HaChasid V'HaMaskil” by Rabbi Yisrael Gelbrat (Chernovtsy 1885). This work appears with many changes. It is unclear whether this is an adaptation of that composition or if it is taken from a third source which was before the copier of this manuscript.
The first and third compositions have exceptional title pages. The copier signs: E. B. M. Z. [apparently, Efraim ben Moshe Zvi of Boguslav – see attached material]. The dates on the second title page and on the colophons contradict one another and the last colophon (1889). Possibly, all are dated according to “Prat Gadol” (including the thousands) and not “Prat Katan” and therefore the copy date is 1888-1889.
[1], 25; [1] leaves. 10.5 cm. Good condition, stains. Original binding.

* Vavim La’Amudim, glosses and Chiddushim on the Rambam on laws of Pesach, on four sections of the Tur and Shulchan Aruch as well as additional books. * Achuzat Olam, on the Torah and homilies. [This manuscript is mentioned in the book “Shem HaGedolim HaShlishi”, clause 1, chapter 458]. * In addition, the manuscript contains passages from his composition “LeShem Shisha Devarim”, an erudite composition and commentary on the Mishnayot, from tractate Kinin and Seder Taharot. [Beginning of composition in handwriting from tractate Berachot until Shevuot was sold in Kedem auction, catalogue 10 item 511, where it is noted on title page that the composition was completed on the entire six Sedarim, whereas the abovementioned manuscript ends toward the end of the fourth Seder, Seder Nezikin. We have, in the interim, discovered an additional section of the manuscript]. Attached are dozens of leaves in Hebrew and foreign language, of monetary invoices (apartment rentals, government bills and promissory notes) and lists of Chiddushei Torah, which portray a great deal of information about the family and community of author.
