Manuscript notebook, Chiddushim on Mishnayot, the Rambam, Shulchan Aruch, the Torah and homilies, in handwriting of the Ga’on Rabbi Shmuel Ya’akov son of Rabbi Tzvi Bramzon. Rajgród, 1879-1899.
* Vavim La’Amudim, glosses and Chiddushim on the Rambam on laws of Pesach, on four sections of the Tur and Shulchan Aruch as well as additional books. * Achuzat Olam, on the Torah and homilies. [This manuscript is mentioned in the book “Shem HaGedolim HaShlishi”, clause 1, chapter 458]. * In addition, the manuscript contains passages from his composition “LeShem Shisha Devarim”, an erudite composition and commentary on the Mishnayot, from tractate Kinin and Seder Taharot. [Beginning of composition in handwriting from tractate Berachot until Shevuot was sold in Kedem auction, catalogue 10 item 511, where it is noted on title page that the composition was completed on the entire six Sedarim, whereas the abovementioned manuscript ends toward the end of the fourth Seder, Seder Nezikin. We have, in the interim, discovered an additional section of the manuscript]. Attached are dozens of leaves in Hebrew and foreign language, of monetary invoices (apartment rentals, government bills and promissory notes) and lists of Chiddushei Torah, which portray a great deal of information about the family and community of author.
The author, the Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Ya’akov Bramzon, resided in Rajgród (a city in the Lomza region, in close proximity to the Prussian border) and died there c. 1899. His son-in-law is Rabbi Shimon Chaim Grayevsky (1867 – 1943), son of author of “Ginat Egoz” – see attached material. Apparently, this composition was not printed. Other known compositions by author: “Shimsha D’Shmuel” (Warsaw, 1897) and additional compositions which were not printed, some of which appear in this volume.
