"Sefer HaMikne" – shtar for sale of four amot of land in Jerusalem to the "Ir HaTzedek" Society. Jerusalem, c. 1880.
"I, the undersigned confirm that I sold to Rabbi ______ four amot of land in the Holy city of Jerusalem … of land owned by the Ir HaTzedek Society near the main road leading to the city of Shechem (Nablus)… Signed… Jerusalem… 1880… Shlomo Yitzchak HaCohen son of the Rabbi the Tzaddik of Volborzh".
Rabbi Shlomo Yitzchak HaCohen Turnheim (ascended to Jerusalem in 1874, died 1916), son of Rebbe Yissachar Ber HaCohen of Volborzh. In the 1880-s, he initiated the building of a neighborhood in Jerusalem [north to the Nablus Gate?], and by these shtarot, he was active in giving those who live abroad the privilege of fulfilling the mitzvah of purchasing four amot of land in Eretz Yisrael and of settling Eretz Yisrael.
Single leaf 21 cm. Fair condition, many tears to margins.

Handwritten "Daily Notebook", journal of income and expenses of Rabbi Shmuel Zuckerman's printing press in Jerusalem, beginning at Shevat 1898 until the month of Adar 1900. The beginning of the notebook was written by Rabbi Shmuel Zuckerman himself and later the handwriting changed to the handwriting of the clerk in the printing press [apparently, Rabbi Moshe Zacharin]. The notebook ends with referral to a new notebook.
The notebook has many historic and bibliographic details of the history of Jerusalem and the printing presses in Jerusalem: printing of notices, Succah decorations, lottery tickets, receipts and printing of various books and their sales. Many names of Jerusalem rabbis and public figures are mentioned in the notebook (Rabbi Akiva Yosef Schlesinger, Rabbi Naftali Hertz Rabbi of Yaffo, Rabbi Videl Angel, and other well known names. The managers of various kollelim and the Sefardi Committee). Entries of various payments to former printers who sold Zuckerman printing rights, and various expenses.
The Jerusalem printer Rabbi Shmuel Zuckerman, born in 1857 in the city of Mezritch ascended with his parents to Jerusalem in 1863. In 1872, learned the printing profession in the printing press of Rabbi Yisrael Beck and his son Rabbi Nissan. Later, he even managed the printing press when Rabbi Nissan Beck traveled to the US. In 1880, Rabbi Zuckerman started to work in the printing press of the Gagin Brothers who eventually took him as a partner and in the end sold him their printing press. Only after 12 years Rabbi Shmuel received an official government permit (Firman) for operating the printing press in Tamuz 1898 (see this notebook). During this time, his printing became the central printing press for most books and printed matter of those years in Jerusalem.
Pages 3-157 (c. 150 written pages), 11.5X39 cm. Varied condition, good to fair, wear, stains and damages. Detached leaves. Worn and missing binding (missing back cover) with sticker "The Daily Notebook".

"Dedicated by Gedalya Bar Yitzchak Issac HaCohen of Mezritch. This house with the pit and the plot of land, total of 500 cubits for Kollel Warsaw forever in 1896 here in Jerusalem".
Under the title is a decoration of two palms – symbol of priestly families.
Size: 50X50 cm. Weight: c. 14 kg. Good condition, stains.

One of first books which present sayings of the Vilna Ga’on, during his lifetime. See introduction, leaf 17/2 which states: “… I have proposed this before the rabbi… the great and famous divine Hassid, Rabbi Eliyahu of Vilna”. Also on leaf 36/1 he cites something which he asked the Vilna Ga’on “… and he responded with his holy mouth…”.
