Rebirth of Israel Passover Haggadah designed and illustrated by David Harel. Israel, 1986. Large format. 54 lithographs in color, printed on paper of exceptionally good quality, cased in an elaborate wooden box. 14 lithographs are signed and numbered. Copy no. 13 out of an edition of 250 numbered copies.
The traditional text is accompanied by illustrations by the artist and multidisciplinary designer, graduate of "Bezalel", David Harel (b. 1946). The illustrations tell the history of the Jewish people starting with the inception of the Zionist movement; amongst them: "Burning of the Synagogue on the Crystal Night", "Exodus", "Yishuv in Emek Yizrael", "a Damaged Enemy Tank" etc.
Attached are: "The Modern Exodus from Egypt" - a booklet written by Haya Harel surveying the historic events from the first Zionist Congress to the Declaration of Independence; a facsimile of the Independence scroll. [54] Leaves. 33X48 cm. Very good condition.

Passover Haggadah, 5 M.T. Jewish Transportation Unit (Y.A.L.) - Middle Eastern Forces. Field. 1942.
The Haggadah opens with " Tonight, while we celebrate the Holiday of Liberty Egypt for us is not gone. The universe has become Egypt for us ". A shortened Haggadah, written in the battle field under difficult conditions. On page no. 3 appears a reference to the German siege of Tobruk, a harbor city in Northern Lybia, close to the Egyptian border. The Haggadah contains parts of the traditional text as well as a text about the Transportation Unit. On the back cover appear an illustration of a Magen David and within it the writing Y.A.L. 16, [1] pp, 21X16 cm. Good condition. Minor stains and wear. Minor tears, tear with text omission to the corner of the second leaf.

On the reverse of the last leaf appear a postage ink stamp and the address of the receiver, a M.E.F soldier (Mediterranean Expeditionary Force). On the front cover appears the Jewish Brigade emblem. Following "This year slaves, next year free people" appears the writing "we shall be there free, independent, not under foreign rule, since is it possible to be in Eretz Israel and not be free?". Illustrations of the sun, palm trees and a chain consisting of eight links were printed on the cover. A text by Berl Katzenelson was attached to the inner side of the front cover; to the inner side of the back cover was attached a leaf with "Imrey Chen". [1] title cover, [25] leaves, 16.5X20.5 cm. Fair-good condition. Stains. Detached leaves. Creases at borders of leaves. Two pin-holes through all of the leaves (remnants of binding by thread). The cover as well as the first and last leaves are mounted on Bristol paper. Printed on different kinds of paper.

Non-traditional Haggadah. Stenciled handwritten and typewritten text, with fine illustrations (illustration on the title page is signed "M.A."). On the reverse of three leaves, passages were added in handwriting: songs, greetings and "Yizkor". On the last leaf: "May this be our last holiday in exile". This Haggadah was identified by comparison with an identical Haggadah, to which a cover and some additional details were added. (See "Kedem" catalogue no. 18, item no. 422). On the first leaf: "far from home and family, on foreign land, we shall celebrate tonight the fifth Passover of this war. With tens of thousands of Jewish soldiers we shall remember the Exodus from Egypt, from slavery to freedom. History turns like a wheel. What Pharaoh ordered to do to male babies only, the Nazis are doing now to the people of Israel". Printed on the back cover: "514/555 Pal Ord Store Coys, Omf." Numerous signatures and handwritten dedications of the companies' soldiers were added on the back cover: "Next year in Tel-Aviv", "Next year in our land", etc. 13, [1] pp, 17X20.5 cm. Fair-good condition. Stains, mainly to the cover and the first and last leaves. Creases. Professionally restored - leaves and cover were sewn with thread. According to the page numbering that appears in the Bibliography Institute CD, it is possible that page no. 5 is missing in the copy which is in the collection of the National Library.

Non-traditional Haggadah with illustrations depicting Jewish life in Ghettos and extermination camps, by "Ben-Binyamin" (Zvi Miklos Adler). This is the third and censored version of a 1946 Haggadah.
