"We are in agreement… that we should be careful of desecrating the Shabbat in public, and we always took care not to do any labour on the Holy Shabbat, except for crucial needs such as supplying water to the residents… We use a 'Goy Shabbat'… We have to appoint a committee to organize the religious matters…". Signed by Dizengoff, and stamped with the Tel Aviv Municipality stamp. Typewritten with a handwritten correction. Leaf, 21x28cm. Good condition. Creases, small tear.

1. Missive of gratitude and greetings, by Meir Dizengoff. February-March 1935. "To those who showed interest in my condition during my sickness…". Typewritten and stenciled, on official stationery of the Tel Aviv municipality.
2-5. Four notices for public distribution, stenciled handwriting. Tel Aviv, September 1936. Amongst them: notices 4, 5 and 8 "About the health condition of Mayor Mr. M. Dizengoff" – "since this morning there was no improvement. – the situation continues to be very worrisome", and another notice, "Rabbi Meir ben Ya'akov Dizengoff is Gone".
Size varies. Fair-good condition. Foxing-stains, tears or folds at bordes and corners.

"Citizens of Tel Aviv are requested not to play music during the mourning days... All entertainment houses will by closed during these days, and no music will be played in coffee-houses". A large notice for hanging on a bulletin board, 94X62.5 cm. Good condition. Several stains. Folded. Slight tears at folding-lines.

Photograph of the mounting of the " Tel Aviv Municipality" sign on the municipality building. Photographer: Walter Zadek. Tel Aviv, 1925.
The design of the city emblem on the sign was by the artist Nahum Gutman and his father, Simcha Ben Zion. The emblem consists of a gate and a lighthouse, seven stars and the words "Evnech VeNivnet". The ceramic work was done by "Bezalel" artists in Jerusalem. The old municipality building – also known as "Beit A. Skura" (27 Bialik Street) – was built in 1925 by the architect M. Cherner and served as the seat of the Tel Aviv Municipality during the years 1925-1965. Since 1971, it is home to the Museum of the History of Tel Aviv-Jaffa. Signed on the reverse with photographer's stamp, "Foto W. Zadek" and annotated in pencil in German. 18x24cm. Good condition. Stains, crease at border.

The building was planned by Ya'akov Ben Sira (Shiffman), who was the Tel Aviv City Engineer for 21 years, from 1929-1950 and led the implementation of international style in building the city. Seminar Levinsky for education dwelled in this building from 1938-1980. The reverse side has Yitzchak Kalter's stamps. 17X24 cm. Good condition. Description and various inscriptions on reverse side.
