Birth certificate of Sali Wald (born 1817), signed by Rabbi Naftali (Nathan) Sofer. Karlburg, Hungary, 1862. Two document-stamps appear on top of the certificate and on the bottom appear the rabbi's signature (in a foreign language) and wax-stamps of the rabbi and the community "Naftali Sofer Rabbi of Karlburg" in Hebrew and in a foreign language.
Rabbi Naftali Sofer (1819-1899, Chatam Sofer and his disciples, page 202, Otzar Ha-Rabanim 16132), born in Pressburg and circumcised by the Chatam Sofer. Studied in Chatam Sofer's Yeshivah and the latter wrote a letter of recommendation for him in 1837, studied also with "Katav Sofer", served in Karlburg and Petchi-Naydorf rabbinates. Author of Mateh Naftali, Bnei Naftali, Sha'ar Naftali and other books.

Rabbi Avraham Aharon Pserhofer (1815-1869, the Chatam Sofer and his disciples pp.11-12; Otzar Ha-Rabanim 943), born in Pressburg, son of Rabbi Moshe Kanizsa, circumcised by "Chatam Sofer", his disciple and Rabbi's Hirsch Charif Heller's disciple. Rabbi Elyakim Getz Hakohen Schwerin, Av Beit Din of Baia (1860-1852, Otzar Harabbanim 2759) was born in Schwerin, he was the disciple of Rabbi Yosef from Posen who is the son in law of the “Noda’ Bi-Yehudah”. He learned in Pressburg with Rabbi Meir Barby and in Nikolsburg with Rabbi Mordechai Benet. In 1912 he was Av Beit Din of Szabadka and became Av Beit Din of Baia in 1915.
Cut leaf, 20x12 cm, written on both sides. Good condition

Collection of letters and documents from the righteous Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Lehrin (1784-1855), founder and chief of the Pkidey V’Amarkaley Arey Ha’Kodesh Association, which dealt with the collection of donations for the Holy Land in all of the congregations of Holland and Deutschland (Western and Central European congregations) and the transferring of them to their destination, for the benefit of the Holy Land settlement. Important documents in the history of the settlement of Israel during the early 19th century.
1. Copies of recommendations for young man traveling from Holland to Eretz Yisrael. Recommendations by: Rabbi Yosef Asher Lemil Av Beit Din of Hague, Rabbi Elyahu Zvi Hirsch Av Beit Din of Rotterdam and Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Lehrin of Amsterdam. 1825-1826.
2. Draft of a long letter to the Holy City of Jerusalem, directed to the guardians of the orphans of Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Shapiro (Rabbi Refael Nissim Aryeh, Rabbi Aryeh son of Rabbi Yerachmiel and Rabbi Avraham Shlomo Zalman). 1829. The other side of the page contains lengthy lists of contributions from Holland and Deutschland to the Eretz Yisrael treasury fund.

The writer, a scholar who served as rabbi in one of the small Hungarian cities, who was not identified by us, sent the letter to Rabbi Yedidya Gottliev Katz of Mór community in Hungary, expressing his expectation to be appointed as rabbi of Mór.
Folded leaf. 24.5cm. Good condition. On back side of cover page: writing, signatures and wax seal.

The letter is in his own handwriting, addressing the issue of an Agunah, in conclusion he signs "Isaac Misha'el son of Rabbi------".
Rabbi Isaac Misha'el son of Rabbi Gedaliah of Fastuch, served on the Nagy-Kanisza Rabbinate after the demise of Rabbi Meir Sanata in 1825. After several years he resigned from the rabbinate (see appendix).

Signed by Chaim Chizkiyahu Medini known as the “Chacham” and Rabbi Menachem Mendel Ashkenazy, with the ink stamp of the "Sdei Chemed".
Rabbi Chayim Chizkiyahu Medini, author of Sdei Chemed (1835-1905, Otzar Harabbanim 6323), served as Rabbi in Constantinople, Karasubazar (Crimea) and Hebron. He was famous for his diligence and genius in both the revealed and hidden parts of the Torah. He published a huge encyclopedia named "Sdei Hemed" - 18 volumes, and many other books.
The sage Rabbi Menachem Mendel (Na’eh) Ashkenazy, (1869-1938), a Lubavitcher Chassid, was the Rosh Yeshiva of “Magen Avot” in Hebron. He is frequently mentioned in the books of his close friend, the author of the “Sdei Chemed”. That year he was appointed as Rabbi of the Ashkenazic community in Hebron. After the death of the Sdei Chemed he moved to Jerusalem and headed the “Kollel Chabad”. His son is the famous sage Rabbi Chaim Na’eh.

The Ga’on Rabbi Moshe Nechemiah Cahanov (1817-1887, Otzar Ha’Rabbanim 15592) was among the great Torah scholars of Lithuania and Jerusalem. Av Beit Din and Rabbinic leader of Chaslowitz. Towards the end of the year 1863 he immigrated to Jerusalem and was appointed as the Rosh Yeshiva of Etz Chaim as well as Rosh Av Beit Din in the Beth Din of Rabbi Shmuel Salant. In his merit many disciples followed in his ways. He composed eleven books, the most famous of which are Netivot Ha’Shalom, Sha’alu Shlom Yerushalayim and Shnat Ha’Sheva. See enclosed material.
