Children's book on the history of the Jewish people in Egypt, Mesopotamia, Greece and Rome. Numerous illustrations appear throughout the book (some in color). On p. 5 is an illustration of a group of Jewish-Russian children. Beneath it is a text about Jewish immigration from Russia to the U.S.
This book is considered the first illustrated children's book to be printed in America that addressed subjects and stories that were not exclusively Biblical.
