Album of photographs compiled by a British soldier who served in the Royal Army Service Corps, from his stay in Palestine, [ca. 1938].
The album contains 137 photographs, among them: * Photographs from the sail to Palestine (photographs of soldiers on board of a ship, photographs of the shores of Gibraltar, Algiers and Malta, and more). * Photographs of various sites in Haifa: base of the Army Service Corps, food warehouses, Casino Bat Galim, Mount Carmel lighthouse, Haifa port, and more. * Group photographs of soldiers and photographs recording various activities of soldiers during leisure time (football game in costumes, visiting the pool, military orchestra and more). * More photographs.
The photographs are titled on the album leaves by hand (English) and some are dated 1938; on the inside of the front cover appears the name of the album's owner - "C. A. Baker R. A. S. C.".
137 photographs, 13.5X9 cm (two photographs are larger) in a 40X29 cm album. Most photographs are mounted on the album leaves. Good overall condition. One photograph is missing from one of the leaves. Creases at corners of leaves. Tears and creases to tissue guards. Slight defects to binding of album.
