Announcement of an agreement to acquire one thousand sets of the Jewish Encyclopedia sent by members of The Jewish Encyclopedia Guarantee Fund Committee to Ya'akov Berliner, representative of "Ahaveth Sholem" chamber. New-York, 1903.
A printed letter sent to chamber representatives of "Bnei Brith" community in the United States. The letter calls the representative to acquire the first three volumes of the Encyclopedia in order to assist in financing publication of additional volumes. Signed on the letter are representatives of the committee, including Daniel Guggenheim and Mayer Sulzberger.
Enclosed are two blank purchase agreement forms.
The Jewish Encyclopedia for subjects of Judaism and the People of Israel, edited by Cyrus Adler, was first published in 1901-1906. The encyclopedia contains 15,000 entries in 12 volumes and to the present day it is one of the most comprehensive sources for Judaism and Jewish history.
