XXXI, [1] leaves, approx. 33X49.5 cm. The original table of contents leaf is missing and instead, a printed table of contents leaf in Russian was mounted on the last page. Good condition. Stains. Creases and several small tears to edges. Pen signature on front endpaper. Binding made of purple velvety cloth, stained and slightly rubbed, with strips made of different cloth in the margins and spine.

Jerusalem Faces, portfolio of six original lithographs by Oskar Kokoschka (1886-1980) β portraits of public figures, politicians and clerics of Jerusalem. London: Marlborough Graphics and George Weidenfeld & Nicolson; for the benefit of The Jerusalem Foundation, 1973. English. A copy marked EX.C.
In April 1973, the expressionist painter Oskar Kokoschka visited Jerusalem. During his visit, he drew the portraits of six of the city's prominent: Prime Minister Golda Meir; Supreme Court President Shimon Agranat; Minister of Defense Moshe Dayan; Jerusalem's mayor, Teddy Kollek; The Patriarch of the Greek Orthodox Church of Jerusalem, Benedictus I; and Head of Waqf of the Dome of the Rock Sheikh Mustafa Khalil al-Ansari. Their portraits were published in the portfolio before us, for the benefit of The Jerusalem Foundation.
All the lithographs are marked EX.C. and are stamped with an embossed stamp: "Ausstellungexemplar" (German: "Exhibition Copy"). Lithograph no. 1, Golda Meir's portrait, is signed by the artist in pencil. The lithographs are in an impressive case, covered with leather and parchment and decorated with gilt reliefs and embossments.

The artist Anne (Annie) Neumann was born in Germany in 1906, studied painting in Berlin and immigrated to Palestine after the Nazi's rise to power in 1933. In Palestine she met the sculptor Batya Lishnaski and became her partner. Neumann focused on drawing and illustrating (among others, illustrated children's books) and her works were displayed in various exhibitions in Israel. She died in 1955 from cancer.
A total of 9 items. Size and condition vary. Many stains.

Batya Lishanski (1899-1992), an Israeli sculptor, born in Malyn (today in Ukraine), the winner of the Dizengoff Prize for Painting and Sculpture and the Israel Prize for Sculpture. Lishanski immigrated to Palestine in 1910. She studied art at Bezalel and in art academies in Rome, Berlin and Paris. Her first solo exhibition was held in Palestine in 1929; ever since she displayed her works of art in many exhibitions in Israel and abroad and won international acclaim. Lishanski created small wooden sculptures, portraits of members of the Yishuv and the State as well as public monuments across Israel (the most known of these being the "Avodah VeHaganah" [Work and Protection] and "Lord Melchett").
