"Faces of East European Jews" by Arnold Zweig, accompanied by 52 lithographs of portraits, by Hermann Struck. Copy out of an edition of 250 copies. A dedication to Rachel Strauss from Struck and Zweig on the endpaper.
Rachel Strauss (1880-1963) was the first independent physician in Germany. Immigrated to Eretz Israel in 1933. Since there was no demand for more physicians at the time she turned to social activity, worked as a volunteer with mentally handicapped people. Founded the Akim association.
176 pp, 25 cm. Good condition. Fragile paper. Stains. A number of detached leaves. Tears to spine. Binding slightly loosened.
