Opening: $300
Unsold
Five photographic postcards documenting the second exhibition organized by the "Commerce and Industry" Company for locally produced goods ("The Exhibition and Fair for Locally Produced Goods"). [Tel-Aviv, 1924]. Three of them are stamped with the stamp of photographer S. Brill.
The photographs depict visitors and workers before various pavilions: "The Union of Vine-Growers", "Factory for Roofing Tiles, Sheinson Brothers", the pavilion of the "Shachor & Co." Company for chemical fertilizer, "Iron Factory" and more. One of the photographs documents a speech from the opening ceremony of the exhibition.
In 1923, Alexander Yevzerov, Avraham Idelsohn and Shlomo Yaffe established the "Commerce and Industry" Company. Within the framework of its activity, the company decided to organize an exhibition, first of its kind, that will exhibit the best products of the Jewish Yishuv in Palestine. The exhibition was organized in three rooms of the Zionist club in Tel-Aviv in 1923, and due to its surprising success, a larger exhibition was decided upon for the following year. The location of the exhibition was moved to the yard of the municipal school for boys (the future "Achad HaAm" school), pavilions were built for the participants and industrialists from all over the world were invited to visit it. In the following years, the exhibition increasingly grew larger until in 1932, it received a new title "The Levant Fair".
Approx. 14X9 cm. Good overall condition. Two photographs are captioned by hand (one on the margins and one on verso).
