Catalogue of an exhibition which took place in Budapest in 1946, documenting the Holocaust atrocities. The catalogue includes disturbing photographs as well as pictures of artworks created by various artists, some of them holocaust survivors (such as Shraga Weil and Arthur Szyk). Quotations from Theodor Herzl and Ya'akov Hazan appear on the first page.
The catalogue was edited by Imre (Yitzchak) Herbst (1916-1978). Herbst, born in Slovakia, was active in "HaShomer HaTtza'ir" movement since youth. In 1942, after his brother was arrested for being involved with the communist party, Herbst was forced to escape to Hungary, where he joined the pioneers' underground. In 1944, when Germany invaded Hungary, he was already one of the leading activists. Later on Herbst was part of "HaBricha" organization and involved with Aliya Bet, and in 1949 immigrated to Israel.
