Meir Gur-Arie, layout of the book "Ovdan HaIr Kisalon, Sipur Amami Mesupar al yede M. [Mordechai] Narkiss" [The Destruction of Kisalon, a folk tale, told by M. Narkiss].
Pencil and watercolor on paper.
The layout consists of two watercolor illustrations, signed by Gur-Arie (cover and inner page), title page (not illustrated), written in ink, and additional sketches in pencil.
The town of Kisalon is mentioned in the Bible as a town in the territory of the tribe of Yehudah: "Then it curved westward from Baalah to
Mount Seir, ran along the northern slope of Mount Jearim (that is, Kesalon)…" (Joshua 15, 10) as well as in the writings of Jewish author Mendele Mocher Sfarim.
