95 photographs from the estate of Gideon Rafael (1913-1999), one of the first and most senior employees of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he worked for over thirty years. Raphael was the assistant of Moshe Sharett during Sharett's service as foreign minister of the Provisional Government and of the State of Israel; he was a member of the Israeli delegation to the U.N. Most of the photographs are from the 1960s and 1970s, from the periods when Raphael served as ambassador. Many of the photographs are press photos. Many are captioned and dated on the verso, and signed with photographers' stamps.
