Torah mantle. Tangier, Morocco, 1900. Velvet, golden thread, cardboard. Typical mantle, widening downwards. Made of two embroidered-velvet parts, with an opening in front. Embroidery surrounds the two round openings for the Atzei Chayim. Mantle is made of Burgundy colored velvet and adorned with rich embroidery in golden threads. An embroidery-ribbon around the borders, with fringes, embroidered in a dense vegetal pattern. The background pattern is of vegetal motifs with birds. Embroidered on the reverse: “…in memory of Yakut…1900”. A stylized wreath with two birds in it appears below the dedication. Length: 82 cm, max. width: 45 cm. Fair condition.
