Rabbi David Bornsztain was born in 1876 in Nasielsk to his father, author of Shem M'Shmuel, son of the Avnei Nezer of Sochaczew. At the age of 20, was appointed Rabbi of Wyszogrֳ³d where he headed a yeshiva for older boys. After World War I, moved to serve in the Tomaszow and Zgierz rabbinate. In 1926, he succeeded his father as Rebbe and was one of the most outstanding rebbes in Poland. Died in the Warsaw Ghetto in Kislev 1942. His entire family perished in the Holocaust. His many books and most of his writings on the Talmud were lost in the upheavals of those years.
