Knesset HaGedola, on Choshen Mishpat, by Rabbi Chaim Benbenishti. Fֳ¼rth, [1692]. The first leaves are missing and substituted in Oriental handwriting. On these handwritten leaves are various owners' inscriptions and signatures: on the third leaf is an owner's inscription Chaim Falagi [apparently, the damaged inscription on the left corner of the first leaf is in the handwriting of Rabbi Chaim Falagi]. Another signature on Page 16/b: Moshe Ebn Sasoon. On the book leaves are glosses by various writers in Oriental handwriting [some of the glosses are apparently in the handwriting of Rabbi Chaim Falagi].
Rabbi Chaim Falagi - the Chabif (1788-1868), Rabbi of Istanbul and a renowned Torah genius of his generation. He wrote 95 books on halacha, novellae and ethics.
196 leaves [missing: 1-8 leaves which are substituted with handwritten leaves]. 27 cm. Varied condition fair until fair-poor. Stains, moisture marks and mildew. Moth damage, tears with missing text in several leaves. Damaged binding.
